Q: What is our mission?
A: Our mission motto, "On Target, On with Living™", is a humble reminder to Calypso Medical employees that we have the power to make a significant contribution in a cancer patient's treatment by confirming the treatment is ON TARGET - accurate, objective and capable of monitoring the location of the treatment target during radiation therapy. By aligning and monitoring the radiation treatment site relative to the isocenter of a linear accelerator, we know we will do our part to allow the patient to get ON WITH LIVING during and after treatment.

Q: What is AC electromagnetic technology?
A: Electromagnetic technology is used in a variety of applications from military to medical devices. Calypso Medical's technology utilizes a proprietary wireless approach using AC electromagnetics with our implantable Beacon® electromagnetic transponders. The implanted Beacon® transponders mark the location of the target and enable exact identification of the target relative to isocenter using the Calypso® 4D Localization System™. The Calypso System and Beacon® transponders are cleared by the FDA for sale in the US. Beacon® transponders are approved for use in prostate cancer patients. Q: What are Beacon® electromagnetic transponders?
A: Beacon® electromagnetic transponders are miniaturized wireless passive circuits. Each Beacon® transponder is the size of a grain of rice implanted in or near the tumor. Once implanted, the Beacon® transponders can be energized to provide continuous positional information for the accurate application of radiation to the target treatment site. The radiation therapist can monitor the position of the treatment target using the Calypso® 4D Tracking Station™ located outside the treatment room. The Calypso System and Beacon® transponders are cleared by the FDA for sale in the US for use in prostate cancer patients.
